Seventh Grade Girls Attend UTD's Innovate(HER) Conference
Levine Academy

Earlier this year the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) reached out to Head of School Tom Elieff to discuss an inspiring new program to empower and educate young women about technology, finance and the entrepreneurial mindsets.

Last Thursday our Seventh Grade girls attended UTD's Innovate(HER) conference, sponsored by Capital One. Twenty-one girls attended the program, which was created by the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship on the University of Texas at Dallas campus.

Innovate(HER) focused on innovators and entrepreneurs through a series of activities and workshops. The girls were exposed to a variety of innovative thinking as they engaged with professional women mentors from across the community. The workshops introduced the girls to the concept of design thinking, presented survey results on confidence building, and conducted break-out sessions on personal finance, coding, robotics, and entrepreneurship. Our Levine girls interacted with over 250 middle school girls from across the Dallas area - together with their peer students, they were mentored by numerous Dallas-area leadership professionals, Capital One corporate professionals, and UTD students. It was a unique and inspiring opportunity, as well as an uplifting, bonding experience for all!

We thank UTD, Capital One, our head of school, chaperones Geveret Spiro and Mrs. Hunter and for coordinating the effort, our Middle School counselor Barbara Carr-Goodman. We appreciate Mrs. Carr-Goodman for coordinating all the logistics, registration, lunch and trip tempo. We know this is an experience our girls will remember. We look forward to future UTD partnerships. [READ MORE]
