Message from Early Childhood Director
Stacey Behrendt, Early Childhood Director

Dear Levine Community,

Welcome back Levine Academy families. It has been a wonderful start to the school year filled with laughter, excitement, and the forming of new lifelong friendships. We have an exciting year ahead of us!

We have enhanced the Early Childhood with innovative new 21st Century classrooms and all new manipulatives. The classrooms can now be easily adapted and reconfigured to suit a variety of learning environments from large to small group settings. The students have been busy exploring our new STEM toys. We are excited to implement additional STEM curriculum and instruction in the classrooms through age appropriate lessons and strategies.

Enhancing the learning support and differentiation for our students in the classroom is another goal this year. We are in the process of hiring a part time Learning Support Specialist for the Early Childhood school, through a successful grant submission to the Jewish Federation. Professional development for our faculty will be a big focus this school year as we continue to evolve and grow the Early Childhood program. This summer our teachers attended various workshops geared to the Social and Emotional well-being of our students. We are excited to introduce a new Social/Emotional curriculum in the 3’s cluster through a proven research based philosophy know as Conscious Discipline. This new curriculum will help students with self-regulation, communicating effectively, and being sensitive to the needs of others.

A change in our identity and the marketing of the school is underway. The Early Childhood Center will now be referred to as simply the Early Childhood or EC. This will better convey the academic focus and expectations of our program.

Thank you for your partnership and support of the school and our teachers. I truly value the outstanding community we have at Levine Academy. As always, please do not hesitate to email me at sbehrendt@levineacademy.org or stop by my office if you have any questions. I am looking forward to amazing school year filled with Jewish learning, hugs, curiosity, and creativity!

All my best,
Shabbat Shalom!
