Sandy Haymann Marks Honoree

Sandy and Andrew met later in life. They arrived in Dallas in April of 2009 as new parents in a new place. As family and community were an essential part of their family goals, they needed to find a point of connectivity. Sandy enrolled in ‘Mommy and Me’ at Levine Academy as a way to immerse herself and Jake into the Dallas Jewish Community.

And so it began…Levine proved to be the avenue to the Jewish connection the Marks' were seeking for their family. Their love for their newfound community grew as Adrianna joined their family 14 months later. When Jake and Adrianna enrolled in the Early Childhood program, Sandy made it her goal to never miss a Levine Academy Shabbat -- she saw it as an opportunity to connect weekly with her kids and get a glimpse of the Levine community. She volunteered whenever possible as a way to get more involved at school. She formed bonds which have turned into lifelong friendships.

After 13 years, Sandy’s love for the school, its teachers, and its community is stronger than ever, and has become her second home. She seeks to help Levine honor the past, stay relevant in the present, and excel into the future. Sandy spent countless hours as a dedicated volunteer and was then approached by the school leaders to become a member of the Board of Trustees. As a Board Member, Sandy has been involved in numerous committees including admissions, marketing, finance and development. As her passion for Jewish education grew, she later took on the role of VP of Development. In her new role, she was dedicated to helping the school secure its fiscal future through new and ongoing donations. Sandy, recognizing the importance of a solid foundation and clear vision, has been involved in several rounds of the school’s strategic planning. Being active in her community was not a new passion, as she has watched her parents participate in many volunteer leadership roles throughout her life. She is now passing on this important value to the next generation through her example.

Recently, she was instrumental in guiding Levine Academy through the unprecedented COVID pandemic.  With the help of her leadership, Levine continued to thrive throughout this difficult time. Sandy is constantly balancing her daily responsibilities as an active Levine board member and volunteer, running a company and spending time with her family. She believes that the investments made in our school today will enable all of our students to create their own Jewish foundation so that they may grow into the Jewish leaders of our community. She understands and acknowledges how important each and every student, parent and teacher is to what we are able to accomplish each and every day at Levine. No one can do the work alone. We need each other to ensure that our candles continue to shine brightly and share the light for generations to come.
