Julie & Jay Liberman

Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas

Julie and Jay Liberman live in Plano along with their children, Sally (11) and Ray (7). They believe it is their obligation to commit time and money to organizations that help sustain communities and support individuals in need. In 2007, Jay and Julie participated in the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas’ (JFGD) Leadership Development Group (LDG) program. Following LDG, they officially began their careers in local Jewish philanthropy; Jay, at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center (The J), and Julie, at Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas (JFS).

In 2009, Julie and Jay chaired The J’s Natural Playground Campaign, which raised over $500,000 to build the J Naturescape, a safe, natural, outdoor environment to explore and enjoy. For the JFGD, together, they co-chaired the Young Adult Event, and Jay co-chaired the Men’s Event in both 2013 and 2014 and served on their CEO search committee in 2014. Jay currently serves as Chairman of the Board of The J, where he received the Leader of the Year Award in 2013. He has previously served on the board as a director, treasurer and Vice President. Jay also is currently a director on their national board, the JCC Association of North America.

Julie’s passion for philanthropy has been intertwined with JFS, where she has been involved for over 10 years. In that time, she has served on the board as a director, Vice President, and is currently President-Elect. She also is a member of their Special Needs Partnership Leadership team, and has chaired their biennial fundraising events, For the Love of Family (2011) and Woman to Woman (2018). Julie helped develop a program that is now an annual event for JFS- the community-wide “Diaper Shower”, which has collected over 800,000 diapers and wipes for families to date. In addition, Julie also serves as a member of the JCRC Education Initiative Task Force. She was a former member on the Board of Directors of Congregation Anshai Torah, and in 2016, spearheaded the campaign to raise over $85,000 to build The Backyard, a natural playground on their campus.

Julie and Jay also serve together on the Levine Academy’s Advisory Committee, and it is their great honor to be recognized in support of Levine Academy and its mission. They extend a special thank you to the 6th grade class for their commitment and mitzvah projects at JFS in support of the Gala.
