Special Giving Opportunities for Academic Programs

Levine Academy is committed to offering a challenging and enriched curriculum in both general and Jewish studies. We are continuously evaluating and updating our existing programs in order to maintain a commitment to excellence and help each student maximize his/her potential.

We have many endowment opportunities that will assist in underwriting the costs of these enriching and innovative programs

Endowment for Mathematics Education

Levine Academy uses the Everyday Math program as the basis for the mathematics curriculum for kindergarten through fourth grade. Developed by the University of Chicago, this innovative system brings math into the classroom throughout the day, rather than just at "math time,” so students understand how mathematics skills and principles are used to solve problems outside the classroom. In addition, the Academy uses the preschool component of Everyday Math to introduce students ages two through four, to sorting, patterns, and calendars.

This endowment will yield sufficient interest to provide for continuing education for teachers of Everyday Math, as well as to provide the new materials constantly being produced to enrich this program.

Endowments for the Math Lab, Reading Workshop and Clubs, Writing Workshop, and Student Publications

As part of our commitment to guide each student to fulfill his/her maximum potential, Levine Academy has established math, reading, writing, and science labs or workshops. Students participate in these areas individually or in small groups to hone their skills whether they are at level, above level or have special needs requiring individualized attention.

  • Math Lab: It is Levine Academy's intention to provide remediation and enrichment in math by scheduling Math Lab before and after school and during lunch, in addition to during regular class hours. This maximizes availability to all qualified students to enhance their math skills.
  • Reading Workshop and Clubs: Many of our students love to read, and Levine Academy provides opportunities for them to explore the wealth of literature with like-minded schoolmates through reading clubs. Reading Workshops for reading remediation are also provided.
  • Writing Workshops and Student Publications: Levine Academy encourages aspiring young authors and artists through a number of programs and workshops. In addition, there are three student-based publications: The student published monthly newspaper, our annual yearbook, and Visions, a student-published and juried literary/Art Journal. The Writers Workshops, or any of the three publications, can be endowed in order to ensure their publication and the maintenance of their high standards that have been established.

Endowment for Future Scientists Club and Science Lab Equipment

Levine Academy is proud of the superior science education it provides to students. Beginning with fifth grade, students are introduced to lab-based science studies. With frequent use, lab supplies are depleted or become obsolete. This endowment will enable the Academy to replace these materials and equipment and update them as technology changes.

Endowment of Sports Teams and Fitness

Team sports play a vital role in child development. Levine Academy currently offers soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball teams for girls and boys. The endowment of a team will yield sufficient interest to purchase uniforms and equipment, provide transportation, and maintain a coaching staff. The donor’s name will be duly noted in all publicity for this team.

Endowment for Outdoor Education and Individual Middle School Grade Retreats

The Levine Academy’s Outdoor Education programs give students the opportunity to learn basic survival skills, teach the importance of teamwork, and focus on mind/body connections. Beginning in fifth grade, individual grades go on overnight outdoor programs to hone these skills. Endowing a specific grade’s outdoor education retreat, or the overall school’s program, will enable the school to continue to provide for these vital learning experiences.

Endowment for the Visual and Performing Arts

Visual and performing arts are activities that not only enhance personal development, but also contribute to students' comprehension of academic subjects while enriching school life and spirit. From ceramics and band to a Hebrew production of a play such as Fiddler on the Roof, students have been able to showcase their creative ability and talents. An endowment for visual and performing arts will ensure that these important creative programs continue and grow.

It is also possible to endow a particular fine arts, music, or theatrical program including:

  • The Annual Zimriyah: A kindergarten through eighth grade multi- faceted celebration of the Jewish heritage through Hebrew and Jewish Folk songs.
  • Spring Music Festival: A school-wide celebration including visual arts, choral, band, drama, and dance.
  • Arts Fest: A school-wide exhibition highlighting the best art work of each student.
  • Hagigat HaSiddur: First graders proudly lead the morning service (Schacharit) to mark their mastery of Hebrew reading skills and receive personal Siddurim (prayer book) to mark this milestone in their lives.
  • Hagigat HaChumash: A celebration in song and drama by the second grade students as they receive their first Chumash (Bible).
  • Hagigat HaLashon: Third graders celebrate their knowledge of modern conversational Hebrew in song and drama.
  • Middle School Debate: All fifth through eighth grade students compete in a debate program that begins with a research paper based on a theme and a pro/con position they choose. The final competition between each grade winner is a held at assembly and judged on content, poise and delivery.
