Volunteer Opportunities and Instructions

The Levine Academy Parent Association needs you! Volunteers are needed to help chair and serve on various committees for the 2010-2011 school year. This is the best way to be involved with your children's education and make a difference in their lives. Below you will find listed many of the different volunteer opportunities available through the PA. Signing up is easy. Please follow the following steps to go online, register (if you haven't done it already), and volunteer.

To Register/Log on:

1. Click here to access the Volunteer Page.

2. Sign in or click New Volunteer and set up your account.

To Join a Committee:

1. Log on to the site.

2. Click on the "Join Committees" tab.

3. Select your division of the school.

4. You will see a list of all committees. All committees are listed as well as volunteer opportunities (like room parent and first friend) that are not Board Positions. You will also find the volunteer opportunities that are available at the school that are not PA sponsored. Committee descriptions are found by clicking the "+" sign.

5. Place a check mark in the boxes of all committees or positions that you would like to do.

6. Click "Submit." If you have any questions pertaining to the website, please email Debbie Weinstein.

Volunteer Opportunities:

*Annual Campaign-Ongoing Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of the school’s Annual Campaign.

*Art Room Volunteer - Ongoing Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help with the musicals, matting pictures, hanging pictures, special events & Zimriyah.

Book Fair – Monday, November 22 – Wednesday, December 1 Volunteers are needed to help in planning the book fair as well as volunteering for shifts during the week of the book fair.

*Buddy Shabbat Dinners – As scheduled Volunteers are needed to help in preparing and setting up for the dinners.

Challah – Fridays The PA organizes the challah distribution every Friday that school is in session. Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs put labels on the challot. Volunteers are needed one Friday a month with additional help during High Holidays.

Chanukah Carnival – Friday, December 3, 2010 Our K-8 students enjoy an afternoon, fun-for-all Chanukah celebration. Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs plan and implement activities for the day.

*C.H.E.S.E.D Day – November 23 Help K-8 classes prepare and cook a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless.

DOGS (Dads Of Great Students) – Ongoing Volunteers are needed to help in planning DOGS events and to help in manning the events. This is a great opportunity to get our dads involved!

*ECC Lunch Helper – Weekly or Monthly Volunteers are needed to deliver ECC lunches between 11:30-12:30 daily. Volunteers can sign up to volunteer weekly or monthly.

End of Year Teacher and Staff Luncheon – Friday, June 4, 2011 Volunteers are needed with planning and set-up of a luncheon to thank our teachers and staff on the last day of school.

*Gala – Ongoing Volunteers are needed to assist with planning the school’s Gala. Areas of need are planning, marketing, mailings, and fundraising.

Gift Shop – Ongoing We are looking for volunteers interested in all aspects of running a gift shop. Volunteers are also needed to work in the store – this is a weekly or monthly commitment. This is a great opportunity not just for parents but also for grandparents and special friends to help out in the school.

*Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day – November 23rd and before Volunteers are needed to help with the planning of this day. Volunteers are also needed to help on the day.

* Library Volunteers – Ongoing Volunteers are needed to work in the Lower School and Middle School libraries and must commit to one day a week for a 2-3 hour shift on an ongoing basis. They will help with accessing books, assisting the librarian, etc. In our ECC library, volunteers may be asked to work on an as-needed basis.

Mag-A-Thon – Wednesday, October 6, 2010 – Friday, October 22, 2010 This is our biggest fundraiser. The students are asked to sell magazines to help raise money for our school. Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs tabulate magazine orders on turn-in days. Our Turn –in Dates are Oct. 13th, Oct.19th and Oct. 22nd.

* Office Help – Ongoing Volunteers are needed on a periodic basis to help in the school offices doing such tasks as copying, sorting, mailing, answering phones, etc.

Room Parents – Ongoing Volunteers are needed for each class in the ECC and LS and for each grade in the MS to help teachers and to organize class/grade level events. Room parents are also responsible for getting the parents together in the Fall, an end of school party for the students, and a back to school party the following August.

*Sunshine Committee – Ongoing Volunteers are needed to read the various local papers and keep development department apprised of life cycle events for our constituents.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation – Ongoing Periodically throughout the year, we honor our teachers and staff with special surprises. Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs plan and create these special days.

Uniform Resale – Ongoing Volunteers are needed to help with organizing donations and setup/sales during uniform resale days.

Welcoming Committee – Summer and Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs set up and plan the First Day of School Parent Breakfasts that are held in the lobby of the School. These breakfasts give our parents the opportunity to “catch up” with one another after the long summer, as well as pick up any needed forms or supplies.

Wrapping Paper – Friday, August 20, 2010 – Friday, September 3, 2010 Volunteers are needed to help committee chairs organize the sale and to distribute the wrapping paper packets and the wrapping paper.

* These programs/events are supported by the PA but are organized and run by the school administration or staff.
